At Be My Neighbor we believe in homeownership for all. So the question is often asked – Is now a good time to buy a home? Is it ALWAYS a good time to buy?

Why is it always a good time to buy a house instead of waiting? Well, I’m not much of an absolutist. So I don’t believe in always and never type words outside of a few circumstances. I would say in general, your cost of shelter is your cost of shelter. You’re gonna have to live somewhere. Or you’ll live in a tent. Hopefully not right?
Live in a House
But if you’re gonna live in a house, your cost of shelter is gonna be what it is. And if you compare simply what rent prices are today compared to the prices of, uh, as far as the cost, monthly cost of owning, I think in a lot of markets, home buyers are gonna find that it is cheaper or just as cheap to own, especially given the long-term benefits of ownership. When considered, if you just simply weigh owning versus renting there may be some markets where renting is a little bit cheaper, but keep in mind, when you’re renting every single bit of money, of value, of time, energy, and effort you’re putting into this house, you’re doing it to grow someone else’s investment, not your own.
